How a Scrappy Project Found Its People

We’ve recently been featured in Nob Hill News and Downtown Albuquerque News, and the response has been more than we expected. We’ve heard from so many of you: messages of encouragement, thoughtful questions, and a lot of new readers finding their way here. We also just passed 100 followers on Instagram, which is not a lot, but, for a small and scrappy project like this, feels like something worth pausing to celebrate.

What started as a side effort to make sense of our city’s challenges, and trauma-bond over them, has grown into a small part of a much larger conversation. Not just in Albuquerque, but across New Mexico and the Southwest. That gives us hope and It means there’s something in this work that resonates. We are not just surprised that some of our posts get shared so broadly, we are grateful to know there’s a community of us out there in the wild.

We also want to take a moment to thank and uplift the local journalists and neighborhood newsletters that make projects like this possible. Outlets like Downtown Albuquerque News and Nob Hill News help keep people informed at the block-by-block level. They’re doing the kind of civic journalism that strengthens democracy, and they deserve your support. If you’re not already subscribed, consider it.

Thanks for reading, for sharing, and for helping shape the future of this place we care about. We believe New Mexico can rise to the top of the ranks in quality of life, in opportunity, and in imagination. And we believe we can get there, together.

Let’s keep building. Let’s keep reimagining a better Albuquerque.
